Oscar the German Shepherd Long Coat
Project Type
De-shedding and tidy
Date
June 2024
The owner of Oscar was concerned about his previous grooming experiences due to showing signs of stress post groom. This was due to being in a crate and amongst other dogs for a long period of time.
We were referred from another customer as a groomer that offers a one-to-one service that doesn't use a crate. He is a charming gentle giant and pleased to say very relaxed in our environment.
I use specialist pH balanced de-shedding shampoos and conditioners designed to lock on to the undercoat and help remove it. Using specialist de-shedding tools to work the coat and a high velocity dryer.
At all times during every groom I conduct with any dog I will regularly check they are not getting stressed. When checking for stress you are looking for what is termed as "calming signals". This is the dogs way of trying to calm themselves and the job of a dog groomer is to check for these signals and manage them by way of breaks, working on different areas, using lower velocity dryers, etc.
